Dr Shabeer Jeeva has hosted a Full days Teachers Workshop for Professionals, Teachers, Concerned Adults & Therapists.
The topic was: All the things I ever wanted to know about ADHD, but was afraid to ask.

The turnout was magnificent, and everyone who attended benefitted greatly, and left with a better understanding of the finer points of ADHD.
Should you wish to hold a workshop of a similar nature in your area, please contact Dr Jeeva's office on +27 11 440 4425

Testimonials specifically for the Workshop

Mr H O Zardad

Dear Dr. Jeeva

Myself and Muallima A Vally attended a workshop on ADHD for children run by Dr Shabeer Jeeva who is a child and adult psychiatrist. The workshop was held on the 25 September 2011 from 07:30 am until 18:30 pm. The workshop addressed various issues related to ADHD of which the following
can be highlighted:

•What is ADHD?
•What causes ADHD?
•Recognising the signs and symptoms
•Outlook (prognosis)
•Possible complications
•When to contact a medical professional and,
•Prevention

The workshop was educational, informative and brought to light the importance of having knowledge regarding ADHD especially for teachers who work with children on a daily basis. I recommend this course for all teachers as it is imperative to widen one's skill and capabilities regarding a subject of this magnitude.

Mr. I. Miller

Dear Dr Jeeva
Following the concept, first introduced on radio Highveld, 702FM, where the community phoned in and informed the public of service of excellence received from a company or individual, I would like to continue this great tradition.

I, as a Principal, my Staff, School Governing Body and Community would like to send Dr Jeeva a huge SHOUT OUT, telling the world about the positive impact he has had on our personal lives and the way we view our children in the classrooms on a daily basis.

As a parent firstly, I heard of Dr Jeeva through a talk he gave at Robertsham Primary 2009. The Child Psychologist from our school heard the talk and when my own child exhibited much of the symptoms outlined in the talk, I first and formally advised by him to book an appointment with Dr Jeeva, which I can sum up in a sentence, was life changing to my son who was already 19years of age at the time.

Having interacted with Dr Jeeva during the treatment of my sons condition, I voiced my concern that many teachers remained in a state of ignorance about ADHD and how they as the primary contact could identify possible learners who might need treatment and if these learners don’t receive it, could slip under the radar and not receive treatment which could prove life changing to many of them.

As a Principal in the South of Johannesburg, I organized a talk by Dr Jeeva for parents from Glenanda Primary, Marists Brothers and my school. The teachers who attended requested Dr Jeeva to formulate a workshop, just for educators.

Dr Jeeva heard their requests and put together a dynamic one day workshop, which left all my staff who attended, buzzing with so much information they wanted to share with staff who could not attend due to limited space. My staff then who were not able to attend requested me to phone and ask Dr Jeeva to present this workshop again. I phoned and was informed that he would be delighted and was even prepared to spread the workshop over two days due to the huge positive interaction he had with teachers present.

Those who attended started to have a positive effect and wanted the ‘School Management Team’ to help introduce a more positive approach to discipline issues. We approached Girl’s and Boy’s Town who over many years have built up a positive approach programme and now we are in the process of introducing the concepts, hoping this will help to alleviate stress to learners with ADHD.

Once again, that you Dr Jeeva and staff for helping to meet the needs we as educators face in the classrooms on a daily basis and the learners who I know have to cope with day to day stress that they in most cases can’t control, but through knowledge on our part could be alleviated.

Yours in caring about the children in our community

Mr. I. Miller
